The Program for Online Teaching Certificate Class...Welcome by Lisa M. Lane

Welcome!

The Program for Online Teaching Certificate Class, an open online class, will begin September 1, 2013. The class is free, offered by the Program for Online Teaching (not an accredited institution), run by volunteer faculty and participants, and open to everyone.
We offer a certificate for those who fulfill the syllabus requirements for 24 weeks, badges for those choosing a one-semester option of 12 weeks, and open participation for anyone not interested in the certificate.
Participants will create and post on their own blog. Community and discussion will take place here each week in Discussions.
Preparations are underway. Please email Lisa M Lane if you are interested as participating as a student, mentor or moderator. Your college or center can also join as a cohort.
Note: if you see a "Take our survey!" link above, please ignore it. This is Google's, not ours.
After I add your gmail address here for sharing (I get them off the Registration Survey each day), you may SIGN IN here with your Google/Gmail credentials to be able to comment . You'll have to even if you're signed in to Google somewhere else.

What do we do each week?

Each week you will:
* read and view the weekly announcement here in that week's Discussion
* do some reading in the textbook and/or online (from the syllabus)
* view any assigned videos or screencasts (from the syllabus)
* create a post on your own blog reflecting on the materials and/or using some technologies
* announce your post in that week's Discussion
* read and comment on the posts of your colleagues in the class in the community

How do I get started?

First, you must have a Google Account to participate. If you don't already use Google, you can sign up for an account here.

Then, fill out the Registration Survey.

Then be guided by the Syllabus - buy your book, set up your blog, and get started
